Happy 2010

I saved this pictorial awhile back with the intention to put it up New Year's Eve. Well, it's a day late and in the process I've forgotten where I pulled it from (feel free to comment with its origins if you know)! I still find it appropriate though and wanted to share. I got very little sleep due to our upstairs neighbors continuous partying but my day was redeemed by FINALLY watching Fantastic Mr. Fox at a theater that plays older movies. It was SO GOOD, and I can't WAIT to buy it when it comes out. It really made me wish I lived in a little animal world like that, they were all so cute. My particular favorite was the little skeleton costume wearing badger child :) He's in the lower left corner of the image below!

My New Years goals include: Helping my bf find a house to buy, move all our crap in there and FINALLY have a workspace, which will then lead into my other goals that include things like working more on projects that have been on hold for the past few years. We don't really make "resolutions" in our household, it's more along the lines of personal goals that we want to see accomplished, since they don't really include any habits we want to change or areas where we fall short normally.

This is England

This movie is amazing. I normally wouldn't post a clip but I feel like pictures just don't do it justice. Set in England in 1983, this true to life story tells about a 12 year old boy who falls into a skinhead gang when searching for friends and a father figure in his life. It was an emotional roller coaster for me. While there is plenty of humor some of the scenes had me holding my breath in suspense, and I had a good cry at the end. Maybe that's just me being a pussy, but, well see for yourself, it's on instant play on netflix so you can watch it NOW!

Entertaining the dead

Tonight we went to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery to watch "American Werewolf in London" at the summer movie nights thrown by Cenespia. I would highly recommend this activity to anyone living in the LA area. It's a great way to spend $10, and have a picnic (food and even alcohol are encouraged) in a cemetery of all places! I've been living here for over 4 years and this is actually the first time that the stars have aligned and I've been able to make it to a showing, which has been hard since it's only held during the summer on Saturday nights. I am definitely going to try to make an effort to go more often next year though (since there's only 2 more weeks left in this years season!). In case your curious, the movies are projected onto a building wall where there is a big grassy field that everyone lays their blankets on and FILLS up to the brim! Not to go all goth on you guys or anything but I would really like to go through the cemetery during the day sometime and snap some pictures since tonight was too dark (these images are snagged from google). There was a lot of interesting tombstones, etc there that I think would be great inspiration for something down the line.

Hooded cloak

I'll be the first to admit, I have an unhealthy obsession with all things hooded. I dont even buy everything I become obsessed with, but there's always this fascination for me of being able to conceal myself with a hood. I think it all started because I walk and take the bus everywhere and have a tendency to accumulate an unhealthy amount of stalkers, and hiding myself with a hood has always made me feel more "protected" against elements like that. I think this Oak hoodie is especially beloved by me right now because it kind of reminded me of the hooded cloak the priest-vampire in Thirst (amazing movie, btw, as you can tell I love chan-wook park and this film does not disappoint!). Having a vampire in priest/monk clothing just seemed so right in this movie, created the perfect mood for the character. Seriously going to consider this Oak hoodie, cause I've acquired a new stalker on my route to work and maybe he wont recognize me if my face is completely shrouded!!!

Oldboy

For anyone that hasn't seen Oldboy, I highly recommend it. It is a film of EPIC proportions!

"Give me something alive"

"Laugh and the world laughs with you. Weep and you weep alone."

Then while browsing the Internet I saw this! WTF, WTF! That is really all I have to say to that! How can you even TRY to remake a movie like this???? Especially when talking about changing major scenes, and happenings in the story! I don't understand it, well no, yes I do, money, that answer's obvious. Regardless of that though, it doesn't change how good the original is, so watch it!

Fearless Vampire Killers

Despite having heard it wasn't the best of his movies, I watched Roman Polanski's movie "The Fearless Vampire Killers" this week. I found it to be quite entertaining. The imagery was very beautiful, and Sharon Tate is a gorgeous actress. I wanted to post some pictures I found taken on the set of the movie that I found particularly beautiful.

Dream car

Just finished Harold and Maude. Super sweet movie, really enjoyed it. I gotta say, the jaguar hearse is by far the most amazing car ever. If I ever win the lottery, or something of that nature, I gotta get me one of these!

Just watched....

Just got done watching Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Didn't think it was possible but I think I'm in love. The costumes are so outrageous, yet so amazingly believable. This has to be my favorite scene I think.
