A flashback to 2012

As the 2014 Grammy's are upon us today I can't help but feel a bit nostalgic as I remember the 2012 Grammy's and the last time the fabulous Katy Perry performed on the show. I had the proud honor of getting to outfit miss Katy Perry in custom Abigail Greydanus Latex and it was a real treat! What a career highlight to not only get to outfit her for the performance but also get to attend the show and get the outfit ready for the performance and see what goes on behind the scenes of one of America's great music events of the year! It's always such a pleasure to work with Katy and her amazing team and I can't wait to see what she'll be wearing tonight!!

Katy Perry rocks Abigail Greydanus custom latex dresses for President Obama rally performances!!

As many of you may have already seen from my facebook fanpage the fabulous Miss Katy Perry rocked some Abigail Greydanus custom latex dresses the past few weeks at her rally performances for President Barack Obama! The dress above was a hit in Wisconsin where she performed, not only did it feature Obama's slogan "Forward" on a Royal Blue latex background but "Forward" happens to be the motto of the state as well! Very appropriate. The dresses were all made in collaboration with her always amazing stylist Johnny Wujeck and if the media's any indication I think they were all a smash hit! You can see one awesome article referencing my work over HERE on Yahoo! The dresses were featured on various sites from MSN to CNN to MTV.




Katy Perry wore her political views out in the open for all to see when she put on this "Human Ballot" style latex dress at a performance for Obama in Las Vegas. I think it was an excellent choice to provoke us all to discuss our views together and get each other's opinions on the matter prior to election day.



This latex American Eagle dress with coordinating "White House" latex belt were worn by Katy Perry at a Fundraiser rally in LA at the beginning of October. This was one of my personal favorites to make. It didn't get quite as much attention as the other two dresses since it was a private event but I really loved working on the design of the eagle and creating all the components of the white house belt that made it look as close to the real deal as possible while coordinating well with the eagle.

I got to make Katy Perry’s amazing backup dancers some latex garments recently! They wore them to perform on Germany’s Echo music awards show. The guys and girls look so fierce in their latex tops and latex harnesses! I don’t know where they get the energy to do these amazing dance performances, seriously, they kick ass and look amazing while doing so! Check them out in the full video of the performance below:

This past week I got the awesome latex design opportunity to create a custom latex catsuit for Katy Perry with lightning as the oufits theme. I'll need to scan and post my design sketch at some point as well to show you the original concept that I worked out with her amazing stylist Johnny Wujek but for now here's some screen shots of the real thing. Since Katy's dance routine for the show is so rigorous you can't really catch the whole of the latex outfit for very long but she's wearing lightning trimmed latex gloves, latex elbow pads, a latex lightning belt, black high waisted briefs and the piece that makes the outfit what it is, the latex lightning catsuit. Figuring out a way to create the lightning effect in a manner that would look good on camera, work in latex, and compliment her figure all while within a very limited time frame was a bit of a challenge but I was super happy with the end results, I love the lightning's "movement" on camera mixed with the lasers.

I also had the pleasure of working on latex shorts for the boys to wear during her performance. Unfortunately the dark lighting for the lasers tends to make it a bit hard to catch but you can kinda peep them in this shot and the video.

As a latex designer (or any designer for that matter!) I recently received what I think is one of the highest honors I could have, getting to dress international celebrity Katy Perry in a custom made latex costume for her performance on the 2012 Grammy awards. The costume was originally conceived by her outstanding stylist Johnny Wujeck and Katy Perry, herself, then I added some personal Abigail Greydanus touches to make it my own. I think it is one of the most amazing things she’s worn to perform in (latex or not). Inspired by the idea of a post apocalyptic warrior with a futuristic touch to it; this latex outfit looked truly outstanding on Katy Perry. Not only did I receive the honor of getting to work on the latex design for Katy Perry but I also got the amazing opportunity to be part of her crew for the day of the Grammys and go to the performance to make sure things went off without a hitch. What can I say, getting to see my outfit go on stage while standing behind the performance stage of the Staples center was truly awe-striking and I had to fight to hold back the tears of pride as Katy Perry took the stage to perform her new, soon to be hit song “Part of Me” in my latex.

Schick Quattro for Women Katy Perry Tour dresses

Over the summer I had the great honor of working with a team of talented people at marketing firm “Amplitude” on their campaign for “Schick Quattro for Women” razors. They were going to be the main tour sponsor of Katy Perry’s world tour and wanted something unique to help the girls that would be touring stand out in a crowd. After a few talks we decided that putting the signature Schick wording on a halter dress would not only be fun and unique but also allow for the girls to be able to work long hours without much discomfort. Some skirts were also made for the additional girls that came to help out at each new location to assist. Each letter on the dresses was meticulously cut in a different font, different sizing, etc, along with the Schick logo. It was a super consuming project but one well worth the effort. I had the pleasure of getting to go to the Los Angeles part of the tour, so much fun! Was great to see the reaction from people that had never seen, nor heard of latex before!

Schick also send a camera crew to watch me work one day on the dresses, etc and above you'll see the footage from that time they spent with me.
