Drip

I was searching latex on a site the other night and came across some interesting artwork I thought I'd share. Lynda Benglis is an artist that is currently using liquid latex as her medium. I feel in love with the glow in the dark pieces she did for New Museum in New York, and if you're in the area it appears they're on view til June 19. Nerd alert

Went to Sanrio's 50th anniversary VIP party last night and just wanted to share a shot taken of me and the stylish group I was with at the end of the night :) If you're in LA, and like cute things and art you CAN'T miss this! Seriously amazing it's most girls fantasy land, if we could've I think we all would've grabbed a sleeping bag and camped out there forever living on free cotton candy and mango flavored water :p (oh and just in case you didn't know I'm the one on the far left).

Fear Not

I have been waiting for this show from Brandi Milne for almost a year now! I really hope all you readers in LA can make it out. I'll be there for sure, wearing one of my rubbery designs too, that I made just for this show!

Rogue

A few weeks ago I attended the Rogue Taxidermy show at La Luz De Jesus Gallery, here in LA. I must admit, it was one of those shows with extreme highs and extreme lows. Perhaps it's just that anything that's in the presence of a masterpiece by someone like Jessica Joslin will be dwarfed by it's awesomeness, but I just gotta say: sticking snake bones onto something or adding fur to something does NOT make it a good use of "taxidermy" in art. That being said the show was put on by a group of artists that use completely found objects of taxidermy, nothing used was killed for that purpose, the only kind of taxidermy art that one can really truly enjoy. Here's some images of my favorites, and the "highs" from the show!

Masterpiece Theater!

I pulled these images of Liz McGrath's studio off of Thinkspace's flickr account. I believe they are photos of some new work...... How exciting! And what a treat to get to take a little sneak peek into the creative space of such a fantastic artist!!! Thanks for sharing these photos with us Thinkspace! I'm kinda in a creativity rut again, between the long hours at work and the house shopping I'm doing my brain is kind of just a big bowl of mush :p I am going to try to FINALLY post some of the great shots I got of Liz's LAST show (!) tomorrow, preluded by this awesome stuff! Hopefully I'll get out of this rut soon and find some more good stuff to share with you guys, sometimes I just feel it's better to post nothing then to post sub par crap :p

A Cry for Help v2

I've been promising a MASSIVE upload of images I took at Thinkspace's a Cry for Help show a little over a week ago, and here they FINALLY are! I apologize for the glare and crookedness of some of them, not only was the show packed making it exceptionally hard to get a good picture but photoshop's not co-operating for me today X( I didn't write down the names of all the artist's, some are recognizable and the others can be viewed HERE along with all the other great works that I either wasn't able to photograph or dump on here.

The show was really good. It was packed, which was great for the gallery and artists but kinda crappy for a lookie-loo like myself who only wanted to get some good shots for you guys to see here :) But I must say this, there was A LOT of affordable art there from some up and coming artists for sure, and if some of the pieces I really liked that were actually in my price range (and if I had any room on my walls!) weren't already sold I definitely would have been tempted to pick something up. There's several pieces left so if you're interested in supporting some great artists as well as having a portion of your purchase go to Born Free USA then be sure to check out the rest of the show!

I have some additional backlogged images from shows that were over a month+ ago but that I still want to share images since some of them are really great. I'll try to do so tomorrow :) Stay tuned!
